A Day of Tears
I am a sunshine kind of gal. Waking up to beams of light streaming through my window just makes my day! It reminds me of the seasons when everything is going just right. No worries or cares. It is easy to be thankful and to praise God then. But what about the gloomy days – those “nothing is working,” “I’m falling apart” occasions? I am reminded of a line from a familiar song:
“I never promised you a rose garden. Along with the sunshine, there’s gotta be a little rain some time.”

Maybe your rain is a difficult period of grief or depression. Perhaps it happens in those moments when you feel completely overwhelmed by too many responsibilities, and you suddenly remember … you forgot to take juggling lessons. Or maybe someone just let you down. Whatever the reason, the tears flow, and it’s raining.
I am learning to appreciate the dark days of life. In them, I find valuable lessons and healing. God is there too. Check out what Scripture says:
“You keep track of all my sorrows.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.” (Psalm 56:8 NLT)
God knows the reason, cares about the hurt, and sees every tear – those that fall from our eyes and those in our hearts that are too deep to come out. They are never wasted. In fact, they water the soil of our lives and produce beautiful roses to enjoy in the sunshine hours.
“Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy.
They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.” (Psalm 126:5-6 NLT)
Remember God is with us no matter what, so if it is “one of those days” …
– let it rain
